What do I meal prep and make ahead as freezer friendly meals /snacks? I realized the freezer-friendly baked goods are time savers when you don’t have time to prepare snacks when the hungry kids are back from school.
Generally, meal prepping ideas /recipes will include recipes for a week or a month. Here I do not intend to make a weekly meal prep or a monthly one. These are the main and important prepping ideas that can be included in any week of meal planning. Some of the recipes are I shown here includes in my every week routine of my meal prep and planning.

What are the frozen meals I prepped?
- Sheet pancake
- Ragi/finger millet banana cake
Let us start with the freezer-friendly snacks first! Make-ahead meals are the healthier choice to enjoy comfort food. This Idly batter can be stored in the freezer for future use.
How to use the frozen Idly batter?
- Thaw the frozen Idly batter in refrigerator.
- When the batter is thawed add salt and mix well.
- Keep the batter outside for fermentation for 8 hours or overnight.
Pancakes are most peoples’ desired breakfast and snack. It earns the credit not only by the taste and flavour but the convenience and satisfaction it provides. Here, I made the pancake with fresh berry and cherry. But I made the pancake in a baking tray to ease up the process and time it takes to cook each pancake. Yeah, sheet pancakes. I baked them and made them into the required size of squares and froze them in freezer bags.
- Ragi/finger millet banana cake
A banana cake made using healthy ragi/finger millet flour along with artisan flour to enjoy the nutty flavour of millets. This banana cake is moist, fluffy and tasty without the regular butter. A guilt-free,butter-free banana cake to enjoy snack time.
Everyday breakfast struggle is usually solved with idly, dosa, appam batters. We can make the regular breakfasts a little more healthy by adding little millet goodness.
What did I meal prep?
A meal prep plan has its own advantage when it focuses on healthy meal prep. Healthy meal prep recipes are not only time-saving, but it is also money-saving by reducing or totally avoiding the food orders.
Idly batter made using a healthy millet and rice combination. Any millet can be replaced in the Kodo millet idly batter recipe to enjoy a healthy breakfast. A healthy meal plan does not end without nutritious Idly batter.
Cooking or blanching free pickle that uses nutritious gooseberry. Normally, gooseberries are blanched and pickled to fasten the pickling process. A time-consuming pickling process that is used to retain the nutrients as much as possible.
A homemade masala powder that is normally used to pickle the small mangoes(vadu mango) is adopted to achieve the result.
Multi-purpose tomato sauce
A multi-purpose tomato sauce that can be made ahead and stored in the freezer for various recipes. This tomato sauce is handy when it is stored in the freezer when you are in hurry. Soaked beans and peas
Soaking the beans and peas will ensure protein intake. A busy schedule and work routine will clash with the soaking and prepping work that we usually do before the day. So I like to soak the beans and peas at the weekends and store them in the freezer. This will ensure protein availability in my freezer and ease of use when required.
